Steve Carruthers

Steve practices with a passion and enthusiasm that focuses on providing high quality legal services while maintaining an approachable relationship with his clients.  He is guided by a common-sense approach to legal problems and a dedication to a principled practice of the law.

As one of the few fifth-generation North Carolina attorneys in the state, Steve brings a wealth of knowledge to his practice.  Prior to opening his law office, he served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Stephani W. Humrickhouse, Chief Judge of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina.  He has clerked in offices across the state, which practiced in areas ranging from estate planning to criminal prosecution.  Since moving to western North Carolina, Steve has also served as a volunteer with Pisgah Legal Service's Mountain Area Volunteer Lawyer Program.

Steve is a native of Winston-Salem but attended college at the University of Montana in Missoula, where he graduated in 2008, with honors.  Upon returning to North Carolina, he enrolled at Campbell University, Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law and graduated cum laude, in 2013. Steve and his wife have two children.
